What you can and can't eat on Dr. Jean Seignalet's (pronounce it "Shon Saynyalay") diet which put 91 different chronic diseases into remission. To see his results with your own condition, click here.

The modern diet (says Seignalet) is too rich in calcium and sodium and too poor in potassium and magnesium. Eating less salt and excluding dairy will help bring sodium and calcium back to the proper levels. Eating lots of fruits and vegetables will increase potassium intake. Seignalet says to supplement with magnesium choride. (Chris's note: Some peope experience loose bowel with magnesium supplements. If you do, try transdermal magnesium "oil" - look it up. With transdermal, there are no problems of bowel upsets and it is impossible to take too much because once the optimum level has been achieved, no more magnesium will cross the skin barrier.

About the author of this website

My name is Chris Parkinson, I am 66 years old. In my spare time I am a French to English translator, health nut, medical historian, researcher, blogger and polemicist. Did I mention I ski? I am the owner of a non-health related, artisan business. I translated Dr. Seignalet's daughters' guide to Dr. Seignalet's 700 page magnum opus.: "L'Alimentation ou la Troisième Médecine" (Nutrition - the third medicine). I own a well thumbed copy of Dr. Seignalet's book.

This website is independent and represents the author's own views. The author has controversial (but well founded) views about modern medicine which Dr. Seignalet's two daughters and son may not always agree with. Despite my great admiration for Seignalet, I think outcomes on the Seignalet diet can be improved in three ways.

  1. 1. He made a serious mistake in not giving the advice to freeze any meat, fish or charcuterie which is to be eaten raw, in order to kill parasites.
  2. 2. I think that like all the medical profession, he was misled by the malignant medical myth taught in medical school that iodine supplementation is toxic (Warning! do not take iodine tincture, it is a poison).
  3. 3. Research on vitamin D dating from after his death shows the importance to health of this vitamin and that most people have a serious deficiency.
